It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Riley H. Puckett, a devoted husband, father, and distinguished veteran, who departed this world on January 24, 2024.

Born on May 27, 1939, in Piedmont, Alabama, Riley led a remarkable life marked by unwavering dedication and service to his country. After a distinguished career in the military, Riley peacefully left us, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Riley served his country with honor and distinction, retiring as a highly decorated Master Chief Petty Officer after two years in the US Navy and an impressive 20-year tenure in the US Coast Guard. His service took him to various corners of the globe, from the frigid landscapes of Alaska to the bustling cityscapes of New York, the sunny shores of Florida, and overseas in Spain. His commitment to duty and his exemplary leadership earned him the admiration of his peers and superiors alike.

Post-military service, Riley continued to contribute to the fields of aerospace and engineering, serving as an engineer with Martin Marietta Aerospace in Orlando, FL. His expertise and dedication continued to make a lasting impact, showcasing his unwavering commitment to excellence.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Riley was a passionate ham radio operator, indulging in his hobby with enthusiasm. He found joy in connecting with others through the airwaves, forging friendships that spanned distances. Additionally, Riley and his beloved wife Diane embarked on a journey of adventure and discovery as full-time RV’ers, traversing the length and breadth of the United States for six fulfilling years.

Following their extensive travels, Riley and Diane eventually settled down in Grand Island, FL, where they continued to create a lifetime of memories together. He is survived by his loving spouse, Diane Puckett, daughter Dawn Ireland, son Allan Puckett, as well as numerous grandchildren who will forever hold dear the love, wisdom, and joy he brought into their lives.

Riley H. Puckett will be remembered not only for his remarkable military service and professional achievements but also for the warmth and kindness he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. As we bid farewell to a true patriot, let us celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy that will endure through the stories and memories of those who were touched by his presence.

May he rest in eternal peace.
