Anthony Lenoris Lowe, 50, was transferred last week to Lake County Jail from Glynn County, Georgia, on an active and confirmed Lake County warrant. The assault charge came as a result of an incident in Leesburg from September of last year in which he threatened a woman with a handgun.

On Oct. 3, 2023, an officer with the Leesburg Police Department was given the case regarding the aggravated assault from Sept. 30, according to an affidavit of probable cause out of Lake County. Officers on scene had spoken to a female victim who advised that she was in the rear portion of her residence sitting in the porch area when Lowe, who she knew, came in and closed the door behind him.

The victim stood up and turned around, during which Lowe pointed a handgun at the back of her head and stated he would kill her. This happened with other people in the house who saw what was going on and separated the two, the affidavit said.

After they were separated, Lowe left through the front door of the residence and started to get into a red Cadillac sedan with black rims. As he entered, the victim went to the front of the residence and stepped out of the front door. He then got back out of the vehicle and pointed the handgun at her again, the affidavit said.

The victim was in fear for her life and believed Lowe was going to kill her. However, an unidentified female was also in the vehicle and pleaded with Lowe to put the handgun away, which he did. He proceeded to drive off southbound on Southeast Street toward East Dixie Avenue. Officers later tried to find the vehicle Lowe left in but were unsuccessful, the affidavit said.

A neighbor advised that she did not see the initial incident that happened in the back but heard a “commotion” from outside. She did witness Lowe get out of his vehicle and point a handgun at the victim before putting it away in his front pocket outside in front of the residence, the affidavit said.

Both the victim and her neighbor described the handgun as small and black in color. They knew it was a pistol but could not provide any other information about it, the report said.

While on scene, officers also spoke to an ex-girlfriend of Lowe’s who had invited him over. She believed he was on that way back to Georgia after leaving the area from the incident. She did not give any other details other than asking officers to be careful if contact was made with the vehicle in question because she had family members inside the vehicle, the affidavit said.

Lowe was ultimately brought into Lake County Jail on Tuesday. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and released after posting $5,000 bond.
