A Leesburg man was arrested when a search revealed he had six rounds of ammunition in his pocket after being stopped for a warrant.
After clearing an unrelated call for service near Mike and Pine Street, an officer briefly spoke to 58-year-old John Fitzgerald Graham at 12:08 a.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. He recognized Graham from numerous previous interactions and had issued notices to appear in the past.Â
The officer’s familiarity with Graham led him to check for any related warrants. He subsequently learned that Graham had a Lake County arrest warrant for failing to appear on a separate trespassing charge. He immediately went back to the area and placed Graham in handcuffs without incident, the report said.Â
A search of Graham’s person revealed six rounds of ammunition within his right front pants pocket. No additional contraband was found during the search, the report said.Â
Because of this discovery, the officer checked Graham’s criminal history for previous felony convictions. He had indeed been found guilty of about 21 felony charges, the report said.Â
Graham was ultimately charged with six counts of weapon (possess firearm or ammo by convicted felon). He was transported to the Lake County Jail with bond set at $5,000.Â
