Mrs. Jane Kellerhouse Peet, age 94, of Mount Dora, Florida, and formerly of Petersburg, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024 peacefully in her sleep.

Mrs. Peet was born November 13, 1929, in Syracuse, New York, to the late Charles Herman Kellerhouse and Mabel Brimer Kellerhouse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, Willard Elbridge Peet, to whom she was married for 54 years, and her son, Edward Scott Peet.

Jane is survived by her adoring children and their families, son, W. Charles Peet of Mount Dora FL; daughter, Jacqueline Peet Giri and husband Prasad P.V. Giri of Elk Grove Village IL; daughter-in-law, Frances Kinzer Peet of Colonial Heights VA; son, Wilfred D. Van Peet and wife Sandra Byrd Peet of Monroe NC; son, Nate Allen Peet and wife, Suzzanne S. Peet of Mount Juliet TN.

She is also survived by her granddaughter, Samantha E. Peet Bowles and husband, William Bowles of Hopewell VA; Indira Giri of Elk Grove Village IL; granddaughter, L. Ashley Peet Robbins and her husband Kaizen D. Robbins of Olympia WA; granddaughter, Jessica A.M. Peet of Colonial Heights VA; granddaughter, Jacqueline D. Peet Martin and husband, James P. Martin, Jr. of Colonial Heights VA; grandson, W. Brandon Peet of Powhatan VA; granddaughter-in-law, Lynnsie Smigiel of Pulaski VA; and great-grandchildren, Danielle B. Peet, W. Torbjorn Peet of Pulaski VA, and James P. Martin, III of Richmond, VA.

She is also survived by her sister, Beverly Kellerhouse Murray of Cranford NJ and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jane received her BS in Art Education from Buffalo State Teacher’s College in Buffalo, NY in 1952. She was an educator in school systems in New York and Virginia.

In her health, Jane was an active member of St. Marks United Methodist Church in Petersburg, VA and The First United Methodist Church in Mount Dora FL. She served as president of the Petersburg chapter of the American Association of University Women. She was an avid painter, reader, cook and crafter, but was happiest being with her children and grandchildren.

The family extends special thanks to Jane’s devoted and tender caregiver, Althea Lawson.

Both Willard and Jane will be interred at a later date at Florida National Cemetery at Bushnell FL with full military rites due to his service.
