Deputies responded to an undisclosed Clermont residence regarding a verbal argument in progress with an object possibly thrown at the female victim around 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arriving, the deputies spoke with the victim who advised that she and 35-year-old Bryan Matthew Woods were involved in a verbal altercation that led to him throwing an insulated cup in her direction. She described the cup as pink with a handle as well as which hand Woods had thrown it from, the report said.

The victim explained that the argument stemmed from ongoing issues with infidelity and Woods’ alcoholism. During this argument, Woods threw a pink metal insulated cup with a handle toward her, instead striking the fireplace behind her. She did not know how close the cup was to hitting her because she “ducked down” behind the couch, the report said.

When the victim looked up, the cup was down by her feet directly in line with where Woods was standing. She then left the residence with her children and stayed outside until law enforcement arrived, the report said.

Deputies also talked to Woods inside the residence. He advised that during the argument, he got frustrated and threw a cup. However, he indicated it was a navy-blue Yeti cup on the counter with orange juice. The report noted that Woods had trouble selecting the cup that was thrown during the altercation when he was interviewed.

Upon further examination, the pink cup was found inside the sink. It had a large dent on the lip on the cup from landing on the floor near where the victim was standing, the report said.

The report noted that while Woods was imitating where he was standing and how he was throwing, he threw with his left hand to the right of the kitchen island counter between a dining room table. He stated that he threw the cup toward the ground, striking the tile near the laundry hamper in the living room.

However, when deputies canvassed the area, they did not find any physical evidence of the cup striking the ground in this area. They further searched the living room for evidence and saw a small chip in the base of the fireplace that appeared to be freshly damaged. Woods advised that it was from the children playing in the living room, the report said.

Woods was subsequently arrested on charge of domestic assault. The Louisiana native was transported to the Lake County Jail with bond set at $1,000.
