In the early morning hours of Saturday, Dec. 23, an officer responded as backup to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle at 2100 Citrus Boulevard, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Another officer had spotted a woman, later identified as 24-year-old Coleby Cheyenne Gonzalez, leaning against the steering wheel with her head down.

The officer approached the vehicle, at which point Gonzalez placed it in drive. He knocked on the window and spoke to Gonzalez who was in the driver’s seat with the vehicle running and the keys under her right leg. He immediately noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverages, the report said.

Gonzalez stated she was not “doing well,” and her boyfriend was on the way to pick her up. She turned the vehicle off, and the officer asked for the keys, which she handed over. She was then asked to step out of the vehicle, the report said.

As Gonzalez did so, she used the car door for support and leaned against the door frame. The officer asked her to walk back to his vehicle, at which time she began walking while leaning against her vehicle. She then stumbled between her vehicle and his due to having no support object. The officer continued to smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from her breath as she spoke, the report said.

The officer asked Gonzalez to participate in field sobriety exercises, to which she agreed. Due to her performance during these exercises, the officer concluded that she was driving under the influence. Breath tests taken later confirmed this with results of 0.101g/210L and 0.098g/210L of breath, the report said.

Gonzalez was charged with DUI and issued a citation for driving while her license was suspended or revoked. She was transported to the Lake County Jail and released a few hours later after posting $1,000.
