A homeless man in Mount Dora was arrested after a deputy caught him walking out of a building with a bag of stolen items.
A deputy responded to an undisclosed Mount Dora residence around 2 p.m. Thursday regarding a burglary that occurred on Monday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.Â
As the deputy walked to the back of the residence to see where the entry was made, he saw 26-year-old Larry Wayne Cundiff coming out of the storage building behind the residence with a bag full of stolen items. He saw the deputy and ran behind the structure with a fishing pole in his hand, the report said.Â
The deputy ran to the rear of the structure and ordered Cundiff to come out and drop the fishing pole. Once Cundiff was near enough, he ordered him to the ground where he was secured, the report said.Â
Road patrol responded, and Cundiff was charged with burglary to a structure and petit theft. He was transported to the Lake County Jail with bond set at $6,000.
