Diana Yvonne Gionet

Our dear mother Diana Yvonne Gionet, age 96, of Howey-In-The Hills, FL sadly passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She was born on November 6, 1927 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts to Placide and Bella Belliveau.

Diana married the love of her life, Joseph L. Gionet on August 30,1947, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts where they began a family life together. Diana and Joe left Massachusetts in October of 1954 with three young boys and headed to St. Petersburg Beach, FL., where they added two more children, girls, to their growing family. As Joe worked to support their family as an Electrical Engineer, Diana had the full-time job raising their 5 young children at home. Diana, Joe and the children left St. Petersburg Beach for Orlando, FL in March of 1964. In August of that same year, Diana and Joe became proud parents once again to yet another son. After the youngest of the Gionet children began school, Diana accepted a position at Bishop Moore High School, as an assistant librarian in September of 1972. She loved her job and the high school kids loved her as well. Diana retired from her position to follow Joe when he was transferred to Houston, TX where they lived for a short period of time. In 1983, Joe retired from the company he worked for after a successful 30-year career. Diana and Joe relocated one last time to enjoy their retirement years in the idyllic little town called Howey-In-Hills, FL. It was here that Diana became very involved in this community where she learned how to golf, became a member of the Howey women’s club, as well as enjoyed many other activities with so many great neighbors, that became such wonderful longtime friends. Diana and Joe had the time of their lives here in Howey and lived life to the fullest every day until her loving husband of 63 years passed away on April 21,2011.

Diana carried on with her life here in Howey until she was called home by the Lord on November 30, 2023.

Diana is survived by all 6 of her children, Clifford, Brian, David, Marie, Anne and Allan; three of her remaining grandchildren, Jean-Luc, Alanna, and Matthew, and 3 daughter’s in-law, Peggy, Karen, Julie and 1 son-in-law, Mike Williamson. She was predeceased in death by her loving husband and two grandsons, Jason and David, Jr.

Diana has lived a long and wonderful life. She was a beautiful woman inside and out. Her heart was huge, her love and dedication to her entire family was unwavering. She had a great personality, a quick wit and brought joy and laughter to all she encountered. She will be missed greatly by all who loved and cared for her.
