Police responded to a battery at a Leesburg residence around 7:08 p.m. Nov. 25, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

The female victim advised that she and 18-year-old Antwan Denard Maddox were in a verbal argument about cleaning up a mess that happened two days before on Thanksgiving. He was getting upset as the victim kept on talking about it. While she was speaking about the mess, Maddox struck the right side of her face with an open hand, the report said.

After that happened, the victim called law enforcement, and Maddox left the residence. She sustained signs of bruising, discoloration and swelling underneath her right eye, the report said.

Later that day around 8:36 p.m., the victim called again to advise that Maddox returned to the residence. Two officers detained him and transported him to LPD for adult booking, the report said.

Maddox later admitted that the statements made by the victim were true, and he had no additional information to add. He stated that he had no intention of hurting the victim but struck her out of anger, the report said.

Maddox was subsequently charged with simple battery (domestic). He was transported to the Lake County Jail and released after paying $500 bond.
