Citizen input needed for Downtown Master Plan in Eustis

The City of Eustis would like to hear from citizens concerning its Downtown Master Plan development process at a work session Thursday, Nov. 16.

The project consultant, MIG+W, is facilitating the session at the City Hall Commission Chambers from 4:30 to 6 p.m. All citizens who would like to hear an updated presentation about the project, which began in August, are welcome to attend and will have an opportunity to provide feedback and share their opinions.

“As we continue the Master Plan process for our beautiful Downtown area, it’s important to us that citizens be able to share their needs and expectations for the future,” said Mayor Michael Holland. “Eustis has such a rich and vibrant history and a beautiful and inviting location. When coupled with our current economic landscape, this Plan will help to ensure that our community will prosper and thrive for many years to come.”

The Master Plan encompasses opportunities for development for all of Downtown, with an emphasis on the former Waterman Hospital site, along with improved parking options, attractive public spaces, and the potential for additional housing, retail and retail opportunities. The consultants will base their recommendations for the area on a combination of factors, including public input, existing and potential development, social and economic conditions, and professional planning standards and practices.

“The City is excited to learn about the progress that MIG+W has made so far. A Downtown Master Plan will enable us to meet the future needs of our community and enhance the already beautiful and thriving environment in the heart of Eustis” said City Manager Tom Carrino.

MIG+W began the process in August 2023 with an anticipated completion in May 2024.
