Woman arrested after unwanted return to gas station in Leesburg

A woman was arrested after trespassing at a Chevron in Leesburg and refusing to listen to officers’ commands when caught. 

Police observed a suspicious person, later identified as 38-year-old Tanya Inez Domenech of Homestead, at the Chevron gas station on 1417 S. 14th St. at 1:28 p.m. Oct. 27, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. 

Officers met Domenech at a prior call for service where she was properly identified. They queried her information and learned she had been trespassed from the gas station in the past, the report said. 

Contact was then made with Domenech as she was walking off the property headed northbound on North 14th Street, the report said. She was given loud verbal commands to stop walking, but she immediately began screaming and was uncooperative with the officers. 

Domenech was told that she was being placed under arrest for trespass after warning. As officers tried to detain her, she began actively resisting by bracing, tensing and attempting to pull away from officers’ grasps. She was extremely hostile but was eventually detained with handcuffs and placed in a patrol vehicle, the report said. 

The Massachusetts native was ultimately charged with trespass after warning and resisting (obstructing without violence). She was transported to the Lake County Jail without further incident. Bond was set at $4,000.  

Domenech was also arrested in July 2022 on suspicion of stealing from a Dollar General and fleeing the scene on a bicycle.
