An estranged boyfriend was arrested for violating a restraining order after using a phone at the Rodeway Inn in Leesburg.
Police responded to an undisclosed Leesburg residence regarding a violation of injunction complaint at about 8:49 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival, the deputy spoke to woman who advised that she was a protected person on an active Lake County injunction against 43-year-old Shane Michael Murphy. She further stated the injunction was granted in January and in effect for a year. Murphy was to have no contact with her until then, but he was recently released from Marion County Jail and had since contacted her several times, the report said.
On Oct. 12, Murphy contacted the victim using a telephone at the Rodeway Inn, located at 1115 West North Boulevard. He contacted her again Tuesday, two times by text and two times through email, inquiring if she would meet him to bring him some medication, the report said.
The report said the victim showed the deputy the messages and emails, one of which stated, “hey, im out and at the roadway same room 211 and am in need of those pills you have, have no phone number yet but would love it if you could swing by.”
After leaving the victim’s residence, the deputy went to the Rodeway Inn and placed Murphy under arrest. He advised that he thought it was okay to contact the victim about his medication, the report said.
The Utah native was subsequently charged with violation of injunction for protection against domestic violence. He was transported to the Lake County Jail and held without bond.
