Cecil Eugene Key, 84, of Umatilla, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023. Born in Coleman, Florida, to the late Cecil & Cecilia Mae (Woods) Key, he was a lifelong Floridian.

Cecil was in the retail grocery business the first half of his life and worked as a Craftsman Tile Setter until his retirement. Cecil founded the Lake County Bass Trackers and was an avid fisherman who loved competing in tournaments. He also loved spending his summers in Englewood, Florida surrounded by family and friends. Cecil was a licensed U.S. Merchant Marine Officer (2002).

He is survived by his 2 sons, Glen (Colleen) Key of Umatilla, FL, Byron Key of Umatilla, FL; 2 daughters, Karen (Jordan) Walzer of Portsmouth, VA, Keri (Douglas) Carter of Umatilla, FL; 6 grandchildren, Joseph Ryan Key (Courtney), Jeffrey James Key, Jonah Dean Walzer, Jordan Jael Walzer, Rayce Key Greer, Steele Thomas Greer; 4 great-grandchildren.

Cecil was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Rowena Latrell Key.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Umatilla on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM.
