In Loving Memory of Kay Duhs June 12, 1954 – September 3, 2023

Debra Kay Duhs, a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished friend, passed away on September 3, 2023, at the age of 69. She was born in Leesburg, Florida, on June 12, 1954, and was the daughter of the late Aubrey and Freda Green.

Kay had four children, David McKinney, Melanie Cottle, Jeremy McKinney, and Ashley Vega who were her greatest joy. On July 16, 1993, Kay married the love of her life, Ronald Richard Duhs, Jr. Their union was blessed to last 26 years before his passing in 2021. Kay’s dedication to her family was unwavering, and she poured her heart and soul into creating a warm and loving home.

Kay was a true homemaker in every sense of the word. She had a natural talent for cooking and took great joy in preparing delicious meals for her loved ones. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and love, where she shared not only her culinary skills but also her boundless affection.

One of Kay’s most enduring qualities was her attentiveness. She had a knack for noticing the smallest details and was always there to lend a listening ear or offer advice, whether you wanted it or not. Her wisdom and caring nature were a source of comfort to those fortunate enough to know her.

Kay had a special affinity for animals, particularly her beloved black Cocker Spaniel, Tux. She considered her pets as part of the family and showered them with love and care.

Throughout her life, Kay exhibited incredible strength and determination. She was no stranger to hard work, often holding down two to three jobs to ensure that her family’s needs were met. Her resilience was nothing short of remarkable, and she faced life’s challenges with grace and courage.

Perhaps one of Kay’s most defining traits was her unwavering loyalty. She stood by her loved ones through thick and thin, and her loyalty knew no bounds.

Kay Duhs was the epitome of a strong, loving, and selfless individual. She leaves behind a legacy of love, sacrifice, and devotion that will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was predeceased by her parents, Aubrey and Freda (Roberts) Green, and her husband Ronald Richard Duhs, Jr..

She is survived by her Sister, Barbara Chase, and her Children, David McKinney, Melanie Cottle, Jeremy McKinney, and Ashley (Abel) Vega, Seven Grandchildren, and many Great-Grandchildren as well as a host of friends and extended family members who will forever hold her in their hearts.

A celebration of Kay’s life will be held on September 16, 2023, at 11:30 am at Baldwin Brothers 1350 East Burleigh Blvd., Tavares, FL 32778. Attendants are asked to wear pink, which was Kay’s favorite color. Pink flowers are appreciated, or in lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made in her memory to Vitas Healthcare. Kay’s memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her legacy of love will endure through the generations.
