Beverly Heil, age 83, of Tavares, FL passed away on September 2, 2023.
She was born December 16, 1939 in Columbus, OH to Paul and Helen Greenwood. She married Ralph Heil on June 20, 1958. She became an Army wife in 1961 when Ralph enlisted in the Army. After the Army, she managed the first floor at Lazarus and later the hardware department at Sears in Columbus. Bev and Ralph had one son, Kevin. She attended Huber Ridge Christian Union Church. The family moved to southwest Indiana in 1978 for Ralph’s job change. She worked as a teacher’s aid at South Terrace Elementary School and was a member of Twelfth Avenue General Baptist Church (Westwood Church). With Ralph’s retirement, they moved to Kuttawa, KY and then to Tavares, FL. She organized a quilting group for several years and then bingo and card games. She attended First Baptist Church of Umatilla.
She was an artist from her youth and that spilled over into crocheting, sewing, cross stitching, plastic canvas, cooking and gardening for the rest of her life. She enjoyed many many years of fishing with Ralph. She taught Amy Heil to sew and instilled her love of creating with fabric in her. She enjoyed playing games of all kinds (especially cards) and taught Matt Heil to play Mahjong and other games. She was always passing Renee Heil another new recipe to try. She loved having pets including fish, turtles, rabbits, dogs, and Corky, her parrot. Snow was a bad four-letter word to her. She loved God and the Bible.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Heil of Tavares, FL; son, Kevin (Renee) Heil of Newburgh, IN; grandchildren, Amy Heil and Matthew Heil of Newburgh, IN; four nieces and four nephews of Ohio, Kentucky, and Arizona. In lieu of flowers, she would sincerely appreciate a donation to First Baptist Church of Umatilla.
