Robert Attis Hatcher

Robert (Bob) Attis Hatcher
June 25, 1933 – August 26, 2023

Robert (Bob) Attis Hatcher, age 90, of Umatilla, Florida passed away peacefully on August 26, 2023. He had been surrounded by family and friends who loved him so much and will continue his legacy.

Bob was born in Canmer, Kentucky on June 25, 1933. At age 15 he left home and traveled to Indiana, hoping to join the Army. When the Army found out his age, he was denied, but instead of going home he found a boarding house where a kind lady took him in. He found work and stayed at the boarding house until he enlisted in the Army. After serving in Korea, Bob returned to Kentucky, where he finished school and some college, and eventually met the woman he would be married to for 65 years, Jasmine (Jackie) Denham and her son Ricky Vincent, who he considered his son also.

The tenacity and perseverance Bob developed after going on his own so young served him well. He got a job fixing tvs when he had never fixed one before. He figured it out. He opened his own TV shop and from that time on Bob never worked for anyone else. He sold used cars in Dona Vista, and eventually partnered up with Jack Roberts and together they built high quality homes all over Lake County. He bought 6 acres on a lake, built his forever home, where he was able to stay until his death. Bob was a man who loved his family, experimenting with new recipes, managing and making money and Florida State Football. He loved to argue politics with anyone that would listen, and was sad that he wouldn’t get to see the next election.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jackie Hatcher, son Rick Vincent (Janice), daughter Robin Wadsworth (Phil), grandsons Tyler and Christopher Wadsworth, granddaughters Megan Vincent and Dady Sullivan( Matt), brother Lyman Michael Hatcher, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father James Fulton Hatcher, mother Trannie Elizabeth Gaines Hatcher, daughter Sandra Devore, nephew Rodney Hatcher, brothers James William Hatcher (Pete), Richard Owen Hatcher (Dick), Charles Leon Hatcher, and sister Margie Marie Bridgewater.
