Reginald A. Fechtel Sr.

Reginald A. “Reggie” Fechtel, Sr. passed away after a brief illness on August 14, 2023. He is survived by his wife Linda Kelley Fechtel, his brother Vincent Fechtel (Dixie), sister Joann Fechtel, daughters Tami Fechtel Hindman (Scott), Terri Fechtel Stroly (Walt) and his son Reginald A. “Buz” Fechtel, Jr. (Anita) and his stepson, Ryan Manjuck (Stacia). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Reggie was born in Leesburg, Florida on June 3, 1940, and was active in the family business as well as his own businesses throughout Central Florida after graduating from his beloved alma mater, the University of Florida. Interestingly, Reggie opened the very first Dollar General in the state.

Reggie lived in Leesburg for many years before meeting his wife Linda and moving to Homosassa Springs in 2008. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed all aspects of being on the water. He was very active in the Leesburg Jaycees organization and served as an Administrative National Director. He was also awarded a JCI Senatorship, the highest honor for a Jaycee to receive.

Reggie dearly loved his family, but he also loved Florida Gators football and was a member of the Leesburg Quarterback Club. Reggie traveled with the club for over 50 years to see the Gators play at away games.

There is a celebration of life planned for Reggie at 1:00 PM on Saturday September 9, 2023, at the Leesburg Boat Club. 1 Dozier Circle, Leesburg, Florida 34748

In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org), supporting injured veterans and first responders in Reggie’s memory.
