An Umatilla woman had a drug pipe hidden in her vagina when she was being booked into the Lake County Jail  for drug possession and falsely identifying herself to law enforcement.

Michele Denise Doucet, 47, was a passenger in a green Chevrolet Impala pulled over at around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday by a Lake County sheriff’s deputy for rolling past the stop bar at a red light at the intersection of West Main Street and County Road 468, according to the sheriff’s office arrest report.

While the deputy was speaking with the driver, Doucet said she was going to get out of the vehicle and walk home. The deputy told her she was not free to leave and needed to stay until the traffic stop was concluded, the report said.

The deputy asked Doucet for her name and date of birth, which she refused to provide. She became extremely nervous looking around and acting frantic, the report said. Due to this, the deputy requested a Rapid ID Device (RID), which is a handheld digital fingerprint reader that communicates with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s database.

While the deputy waited for the device, the driver gave him permission to search the vehicle. The deputy found a glass smoking device in the center console and a crystal-like substance scattered on the front passenger seat that tested positive for methamphetamine. A metal smoking device used for narcotics was also found on the floorboard next to Doucet’s seat, according to the report.

Because the illegal items were within direct reach of Doucet, she was again asked to identify herself.  She said multiple times that her name was “Dominique Mendenhall” and gave a false birth date, the report said.

At that point, another deputy arrived with the RID. Doucet was asked one more time to confirm her identity, and she repeated the false name and date of birth. The RID was used to properly identify Doucet, who was taken into custody and transported to the Lake County Jail, according to the report.

At the jail, detention deputies found a glass smoking device that Doucet had tried to hide inside her vagina. She was taken to the hospital and X-rayed to ensure there was nothing else hidden inside her, the report said.

Doucet was ultimately returned to jail and charged with possession of methamphetamine, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, providing a false name to law enforcement officers, and the introduction of contraband to a secured facility. Bond was set at $6,000.
