Elisa Beliso Burrows Hart, 98, passed away peacefully at the home she shared with her daughter, Anita, and son-in-law, Vance, Wednesday, July 12th, 2023.
Elisa was born March 4, 1925 in Kowloon, Hong Kong, daughter of Gabino Beliso and Melchora Feliciano Beliso and was raised in Manila, in the Philippines. Elisa worked for the Philippine Airlines until her marriage to George T. Burrows in 1948. They moved to the United States in 1950, where she became a U.S. citizen. Elisa was a homemaker and stay-at-home mother for their 6 children. While George’s engineering career took them to several states across the US over the years, they settled in Leesburg, FL in 1966. After her children were grown, Elisa worked for Belks in the men’s department at the Leesburg store until her retirement.
Gardening was a passion of Elisa’s; she had a green thumb with all flowering plants and her yard was always colorful. She was an excellent cook, to the delight of her family and friends who enjoyed the Spanish and Filipino cuisines she shared. She spent endless hours crocheting and knitting, providing baby blankets and booties to new family additions as well as bedspreads and tablecloths that were always favorites at Christmas time, and are now heirlooms in the households of the children and grandchildren.
Elisa was preceded in death by George (1986) and her second husband, Paul Hart (1999), son Earl T. Burrows (1980), son Roberto “Bob” L. Burrows (1992), grandson Dwight Burrows (2022), and granddaughter Gayl Hamilton (2021). She is survived by her children Tom Burrows (Vicki), Tina Lavender (Joe), Anita Hinebaugh (Vance) and Jack Burrows (Laurie); grandchildren Glenn Burrows (Deanna), Traci Burrows (Jeff McGregor), Maile DeLand (Derek), Rich Watkins, Alisha Bounds (Tim), Carol Chowning (Brian), Clint Corneliussen (Dawn), Christa Tibbals (Tom Johnston), Lori Pitt (Gabe), Rachel Fleming (Todd), Adam Burrows (Lauren), Anna Courtney (Steven), Stephen Burrows (Sara) and Sarah Burrows; 32 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson.
The family will have a graveside inurnment at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Leesburg, FL. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life honoring Elisa at the home of Anita and Vance at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8th.
