A Lake County Jail inmate was arrested Tuesday after she reportedly bit a detention deputy’s arm.
Tina Louise Kasson, 37, pretended to have a leg injury and started complaining she couldn’t walk up the stairs, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Detention deputies notified the sheriff’s office’s medical nurses, but Kasson refused to let them examine her leg. As a result, a nurse requested Kasson be placed on suicide watch and put into a suicide smock, the report said.
Once deputies escorted Kasson to a cell, she became limp. They tried to lift her, and she proceeded to bite one of the deputy’s right arms. Kasson also spit at the deputies. Ultimately, Kasson was fully secured and the bitten deputy was taken to Premise Health for treatment, according to the report.
Kasson, who was initially arrested June 23 for trespassing, received an additional charge of battery on a law enforcement officer. A balance of $5,000 was added to her bond, as well.
