Christopher Daniel Atkins, 46, of Tavares, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023.
Born in Anniston, Alabama, Chris moved to Tavares in 2000 after serving in the United States Marine Corps at Camp LeJeune in North Carolina. Chris was a devoted husband and loving father. He was a huge football fan, rooting for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Auburn Tigers. Christopher loved the Lord and attended church at Grace City in Sorrento.
In an excerpt from his journal he once wrote: “You are a good God, righteous and merciful. Give plenty and forgive much. Help me Lord to be the servant you want me to be.”
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Atkins; mother, Cornellia Atkins; son, Christopher Alexander Atkins; daughters, Virginia Grace Atkins and Mya Angel Atkins; sister, Darlene Sabre Roberts; step-father, John Lockhart. Christopher is preceded in death by his daughter, Trinity Alexis Atkins; father, Robert Franklin Atkins, III; brother, Michael Eugene Atkins; sister, Kathleen Danielle Atkins.
Service will be held at Grace City Church, 32441 CR 437, Sorrento on Friday, June 23, 2023. The family requests that everyone wear a sports jersey or their favorite sports team’s t-shirts. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 6:00 PM and service will begin at 7: 00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace City, to be designated to the Youth program.
