A Wildwood man and his female companion were arrested on drug charges after both admitted to having methamphetamine in their possession.
At 2:16 a.m. Friday, a Lake County sheriff’s deputy observed a red 2014 Ford Fusion with extremely dark window tinting traveling on West Main Street in Leesburg. A license plate query showed the tag was not registered to the vehicle, and the deputy initiated a traffic stop near Hiawatha Circle and Tecumseh Avenue, according to the sheriff’s office arrest report.
The driver, later identified as 27-year-old Tyler James Liccardi, and the passenger, 26-year-old Shayna Krebs, continued on at a slow speed for a longer than usual time before coming to a stop. While the deputy spoke with Liccardi, he could smell the distinct odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, the report said.
Liccardi told the deputy he had a small amount of the substance in the vehicle, but he was unsure where it was. He also said he constantly smokes marijuana in the vehicle. Liccardi was removed from the vehicle and gave the deputy permission to search his pants pockets. A small plastic bag of a green leafy substance was found, the report said.
Krebs was then asked to get out of the vehicle. She turned away from the deputies’ line of sight and began reaching into her purse, stating she was trying to get a leash for her dog in the back seat. Deputies had to ask her multiple times to exit the vehicle, as she appeared frantic and extremely nervous without ever finding the dog’s leash, according to the report.
A female unit was requested to pat down Krebs, during which the officer noticed Krebs attempt to conceal something in her hand. Once she was secured, the officer found a small pink coin purse in her hand. Inside was a rubber jar containing a crystal-like substance and a brown crystal-like substance, the report said.
Krebs said the substances in her purse were methamphetamine and that she had a glass smoking device partially inserted inside of her female genitalia. Due to this, Krebs was taken into custody and transported to the Lake County Jail, the report said.
Deputies proceeded to search the vehicle. Located behind the passenger seat was a glass smoking device with burnt residue in the bowl and a clear plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance. The bowl and plastic bag were in direct reach of Liccardi, which the deputy believed to be why it took him an exaggerated amount of time to pull over for the traffic stop, according to the report.
Liccardi was questioned about the smoking device found behind the passenger seat, to which he admitted it was his and he had been “smoking on it all day.” Due to being in direct reach of the bag of crystal-like substance found near the smoking device, he was also taken into custody and transported to the Lake County Jaill, the report said.
Police later found a plastic cellophane wrapper containing a crystal-like substance inside Liccardi’s right front pant pocket while he was inside the jail. He spontaneously uttered “well there’s my meth” upon this discovery, according to the report.
Liccardi was subsequently charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and introduction of contraband into a detention facility. He was released after posting $5,000 bond.
Krebs was charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $3,000, and she has not been released from jail.
