Lawrence J. Cota

Lawrence (Larry) J. Cota, 87, of Tavares, Florida passed away on June 9th 2023 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. Larry served in the US Air Force A/1C before becoming a business owner/operator of Larry’s Citgo Gas Stations in Syracuse, NY.

Larry was born June 11, 1935 in Barnes Corners, NY, twin son of Sherman and Floy Cota. This twin sister, Laura Jane predeceased him, as well as brothers Nelson and Sherman Cota, and his first wife of twenty-one years, Meta Cota.

He is also predeceased by his wife of thirty-one years, Eleanor (Ellie) Cota, and his son Michael (Mikey) Cota. Surviving are his wife Nancy, his beloved dog Barney, his son Dennis (Diane) Cota, daughters Sandy Judd, Debbie (Maggie aka Megan) Juliano, Karen (Terry) Peelman, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grand-children.

Everyone who knew Larry knew he was a jokester and would do everything in his power to get you to smile and laugh along with him. Larry also enjoyed playing poker with his friends, eating breakfast at the diner, and driving around in his golf cart with his buddy, Barney. Larry was one of a kind and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Assumption Cemetery, 2401 Court St., Syracuse NY on Tuesday June 27th 2023 at 11:00 am.
