Brenda Marie McElhaney Verno was born in Waterloo, Iowa June 18, 1960 to Betty Jean (Jacobsen) McElhaney & Richard McElhaney. She passed away on May 31st, 2023, fulfilling the desire of her heart to be reunited one day with her husband Steven.
Brenda grew up with a big adventurous family originally in Evandale, Iowa and the family moved to Clarksville, Iowa. Attended Clarksville school active in basketball, softball, band, & Girl Scouting. Saint John Lutheran Church was the family church thru the years. She Graduated high school from Clarksville High School with goal of achieving her college degree as a Lab Tech via the Army.
Brenda enlisted in the US Army and served honorably in the medical field. She found her best friend also serving in the Army. In 1980 she married Steven Michael Verno on D-Day, June 6th, in Honolulu, Hawaii while they were stationed in Hawaii for four years. Thru the years that followed they traveled and moved within the Army thru much of the United States and overseas. Enjoying the adventures and showing their two boys the world. They retired in Florida with their children.
Brenda was a loving wife and mother as her greatest joy was her family. Her Hobbies were genealogy & crafting. All this was done with a big smile on her face.
She is survived by her sisters Linda (married to Duane) Griffin, Jeannette (married to Dale) Henry, Roberta McElhaney, Laura (married to Victor) Padron and two brothers Bruce (married to Debra) McElhaney, Paul McElhaney. Her children Shane (married to Melissa), Ian (married to Carolyn), and special nephews and nieces all of whom she loved.
She wished for cremation in leu of a funeral per her wishes in life and death.
