Three Lake County residents pronounced dead at scene of crash

Three Lake County residents were pronounced dead Friday morning at the scene of a crash involving their pickup and two large trucks.

A 21-year-old Mascotte woman had been driving a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado at 5:37 a.m. southbound on State Road 33 at Bakers Lane at Clermont when she drifted into the opposite lane of travel and collided with a northbound 1999 Freightliner semi tractor trailer, causing it to run off the roadway and overturn, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The pickup went on to collide with a second northbound truck, a 2018 Kenworth, which departed the roadway, struck some trees and landed on its side.

The driver of the Silverado pickup and her two passengers, a 50-year-old Mascotte woman and a 59-year-old Mascotte man were pronounced dead at the scene.

The two truckers were transported to Orlando Health South Lake Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
