A Leesburg woman was arrested eight months after she failed to return a loaner car.
Tamera Shania Pollard, 26, took her 2014 Mazda to the Mazda dealer in Clermont on July 15. The dealership provided her with a 2022 Mazda CX 30 which she was to return on July 19. When she failed to return the car and ignored phone calls and letters demanding she return the loaner the dealership contacted the Clermont police for assistance on Aug.19. The dealership signed an affidavit that the vehicle had not been returned and the they were seeking to prosecute Pollard for the theft of the new car. Lake County sheriff’s deputies stopped the CX30 as it had been entered into the stolen vehicle data base but no arrest was made at that time. The CX30 was towed back to the dealership.
Sheriff’s deputies were able to take Pollard into custody early Thursday evening. She was booked at the Lake County Jail for the third degree felony of failure to redeliver a hired vehicle.
