Walter “Walt” D. Mayer, age 69, of Leesburg, Florida passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023 in Lady Lake, Florida. Walt was born in Cheverly, Maryland to the late Thelma Teresa (Tippitt) Mayer and Walter Arthur Mayer.
Walt was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division.
After Walt was honorably discharged, he was a drywall finisher and also worked for Excel Tree Experts in Jessup, Maryland and Giant Food in Elkridge, Maryland.
In his younger years Walt was known for riding his unicycle and enjoyed playing billiards. He spent countless hours in the yard tending to the flowers and to his vegetable garden.
After moving to Leesburg, Florida from Elkridge, Maryland he joined American Legion Post 330 and First Assembly of God in Eustis, Florida.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma Teresa (Tippitt) Mayer and Walter Arthur Mayer and his brother, Ricky David Mayer.
Walt is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Linda Mayer Moore and Robert Moore along with his nieces and nephews, Robert “Bobby” Moore, Emily Krickler Gumina, Naomi Moore Krickler, Justin Sporer, Jennifer Swadow, Jamie Mayer and extended family and friends.
