Anonymous tip leads to arrest of wanted Leesburg man near 7-Eleven

An anonymous tip led to the arrest of a Leesburg man who was wanted on a warrant.

A tip was received by Leesburg officers at 8:01 a.m. Wednesday that 34-year- old Andre Ricardo Topey,who was wanted on a felony aggravated assault warrant, was walking down South Street toward the 7-Eleven gas station.

Officers found Topey, who had been arrested earlier this year in Lexus at Rogers Park, near the intersection of Hood Avenue and South Street. The officers searched Topey and found cocaine and marijuana in his pockets.

After booking at the Leesburg Police Station Topey was transferred to the Lake County Jail where bond was set at $15,000 for possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana.

Topey’s next court date is Jan. 9.
