George Intveld, 77, of Tavares, Florida, passed away Nov. 12, 2022. He was born Sept. 18, 1945, in Ridderkerk, the Netherlands. During the 1960s in Holland, he was a professional soccer player, and he remained passionate about the game his entire life. He was a local soccer coach for young men and also escorted them to Holland several times for soccer-related trips, which gave him great joy in his later years.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Hendrik and Tania Intveld. He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Christine; and his brother, Hendrik; along with his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law — Marcia MacKay, David and Janet MacKay, and Gordon and Thelma MacKay. He also leaves behind many close dear friends who were like family to him.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, at 4 p.m., including the gathering of family and friends right after the service, at Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home at 226 E. Burleigh Blvd. in Tavares, Florida.
