Sue Lorraine Allen of Leesburg, FL, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2022. She was surrounded by love and family.

Sue was born in Endicott, NY to Richard and Ruth Allen. Her home town was Owego, NY. Sue graduated from Owego Free Academy in 1968. She went on to get her Bachelors and Masters degree at SUNY Cortland, NY. Sue resided in Newfield, NY and then moving to Bennington, VT. She later moved to be closer to family in Palm Beach County, Fl and lately resided in Leesburg, Fl.

Sue is survived by her brother, Gary Allen and wife Karen Allen, her nephews Christopher Allen (wife Shelley Allen/daughter Audrey Allen) and S. Chase Allen and wife Nadiya Allen. Sue was loved and respected as a top competitor in family competitions! She was hard to beat in rafting, go cart races, card games or the family favorite, Wahoo. Sue was our family jokester at every gathering. You never knew what was in her bag of tricks!

Sue loved sports!! She was an avid baseball and football fan. She attended many games for the Marlins but her heart was always with the NY Yankees. Sue loved football too. She enjoyed going to Gator games in Gainesville and Dolphin games in Miami. Favorite team? The NY Giants of course!

Sue loved helping others. She was an active member of the Palm Beach Boating Club, a volunteer at her church and an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Palm Beach County. Sue lived by the Golden Rule, always helping others and meeting the needs of family and friends before her own. Sue traveled extensively with friends and to visit family. She welcomed adventures all over the world.

This quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson says it all: “To know even one life has breathed easier because you lived, this is to have succeeded”

So dear Sweet Sue, we will miss you in our lives but will always keep you close in our hearts through the many, many memories we have. You have touched so many. Be at peace.

Although a formal service will not be held, a celebration of her life is being planned by her family. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate and thank you for donations to Team Gleason Foundation, a wonderful charity established by Steve Gleason, a former Saints football player that assists those with ALS.
