A Lake County deputy’s arrest affidavit alleging that he solicited a prostitute was ordered sealed Wednesday by Judge Sarah Jones.
Assistant State Attorney Kristalle Smoller filed a motion to seal the arrest affidavit which alleged that Lake County deputy Scott Stone had solicited a prostitute on Jan. 10. The motion said that sealing the affidavit was necessary to protect an informant who provided information leading to Stone’s arrest. The motion also said that the informant is still providing information on other investigations.
This past March an investigation into Stone’s conduct was launched after the sheriff’s office received “vague information from a citizen who advised there was a deputy with the sheriff’s office who was possibly paying for sex.”
Investigators believe he paid for sex between June 2021 and February of this year, with at least one incident happening while he was on duty, according to the sheriff’s office.
He remains free on $1,000 bond.
