David “Keith” Lucas, a long-time resident of Eustis, Florida passed away peacefully on July 7, 2022 at the age of 91.

Born to Harry and Peggy in Delmont, Pennsylvania, Keith was the youngest of six children. Growing up, he was an avid reader, taking pride in being the youngest member of his local library. He also played several instruments in the band and was on the football team.

A proud airman in the United States Air Force, Keith served our country for nearly eight years, most notably as an air traffic controller during the Korean War.

After his service, he went to work as an electrical engineer and draftsman. Keith’s spirit and love for his community remained ever present throughout his life. As a co-founder, he established the Willow Oak Volunteer Fire Department in Mulberry, FL. An endless amount of blood, sweat, and tears were put into building the fire station from ground up, raising funds, and saving countless lives. After moving to Lake County, he continued his selflessness by proudly volunteering for many years with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Keith is predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Joanne; sons, David Keith II and David Robin; granddaughter, Jessica; and step-grandson, Kyle.

Keith’s remarkable life, brilliant mind, and tender demeanor will forever be cherished by his wife of 21 years, Jean; daughter, Fawn (Wally); daughter, Melissa (Bryan); son, Kevin (Bly); and stepchildren, Wayne (Jennifer), Mark (Loretta), Billy, and Kathy (Bill).

Keith’s legacy will live on through his 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. The significance of Keith’s life will be felt eternally as he will be deeply loved and missed by all that knew him.
