Our loving mother, Lois Janet Guler, passed away on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022, at the age of 90. She was at her home in Tavares Florida with all her children by her side. Lois was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who always put others first. She had been battling Parkinson’s disease for the past five years.

Lois is survived by two sons, a daughter and two granddaughters; Dale and Pam Guler of Crystal River, FL and their daughters Courtney and Jessy; Mike and Beth Guler of Punta Gorda, FL; and Cheryl and Alberto Montes of Eustis, FL.

Lois was born and raised in Racine, MN, the daughter of Truman Thompson and Leola (Sample) Thompson. After high school she obtained a teaching degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. Shortly after beginning a teaching career in Minneapolis, MN she met and fell in love with George Guler, and they married in 1955. George’s career took them from Minnesota to Florida to Texas to Georgia to Florida to Minnesota and finally to Alabama. Lois kept very busy raising three kids while holding various jobs to help support the family. Lois and George spent retirement living close to family in both Georgia and Florida.

Lois and George loved to travel. They sailed the Caribbean, hiked national parks, sampled wine in California, cruised in Alaska and much more. Lois carried on her father’s love for card games and played bridge her whole life.

Immediate family will gather to celebrate Lois’ life by remembering all the wonderful adventures that we’ve shared. In lieu of flowers, a memorial tribute gift donation may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation at www.parkinson.org, or the Michael J. Fox Foundation at www.michaeljfox.org.
