A Leesburg man and woman with criminal records were arrested after being caught trespassing at a construction site.

Tavares police officers responded to Tansy Street in the Avalon Park housing development late Saturday afternoon after receiving a report of two people trespassing on active construction sites, removing items and putting them into a U-Haul truck. A representative for the development told the officers she didn’t want to prosecute the suspects for burglary/theft, but she did want to pursue trespassing charges, according to the police report.

Lhea Marie Clough and Jonathan Barron TunstallThe suspects identified as Jonathan Barron Tunstall, 38, of 12050 Stuart Lane, and 30-year-old Lhea Marie Clough, of 35416 Lake Bradley Drive. Tunstall and Clough have four and three prior arrests, respectively, most on drug charges. Tunstall told officers he and Clough had been taking things from the new construction sites and collecting scrap, the report said.

Tunstall and Clough were each charged with trespassing at a posted construction site and taken to the Lake County Jail. Tunstall was released Saturday night on $2,000 bond while Clough remains held on $10,000 bond. They’re both due to appear in Lake County Court on July 25.
