Raleigh Joe Goddard, 74, of Leesburg, passed away after a brief illness on May 3, 2022.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Rita, their daughter Corey and grandsons Donaven, Keith and Eric. He is also survived by his mother, Jeanette A. Merritt, brothers Elvis Goddard (Tammy) of Tampa and Michael Merritt (MaryAnne) of Belleview and sister Tina Goddard of Leesburg along with nephews Clay Goddard, Clif Goddard, Clete Goddard and Chris Merritt. Raleigh Joe is predeceased by his father, Raleigh E. Goddard Jr., his son, Casey Abram Goddard and his grandson, Arean J. Joyner.
Raleigh Joe was born August 5, 1947 in Leesburg. He was employed as a Sales Rep at Hughes Supply in Leesburg and Tampa for many years and also was a sales manager at Cecil Clark Chevrolet in Leesburg. Raleigh Joe was an avid sportsman and loved the outdoors. His favorite activities besides entertaining his grandsons included hunting, fishing, golfing and softball with the Leesburg Merchants team. He had a ready smile for everyone he met and treasured all of his lifelong friends and his family.
There will be a Celebration of his Life on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 12:00 pm noon at Beyers Funeral Chapel at 1123 W. Main Street in Leesburg. A visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, May 13, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
