The United Way of Lake and Sumter Counties (UWLS) will hold its second annual Hometown Hero Hoedown at 5 p.m. Friday, April 29, at Far Reach Ranch, 1255 S. Dora Blvd. in Tavares.
Over the past month, residents of Lake and Sumter Counties have submitted more than 125 nominations in support of their local “Hometown Hero.” Two Sumter County and Two Lake County local heroes will be announced and honored at the event. The Star of Service award will also be awarded.
The Hometown Hero Hoedown will feature a live band, kids’ games and live animals, food trucks, Cow Plop Bingo, and a silent auction. Admission is free. The event was made possible with generous business sponsorships from Publix, Far Reach Ranch, SECO Energy, Mathias Food Service, Clermont Police Department, Duke Energy, Kroger Delivery, Office Depot, Advanced Plumbing Technology and Sauer Septic.
