A convicted felon with a firearm was arrested at the Susan Street Sports Complex in Leesburg.
A tip was received by the Leesburg Police Department that 43-year-old Craig Eugene Brown was in the vicinity of the sports complex and was wanted on a warrant. When officers arrived on the scene, there was “a crowd of people pointing” at Brown, indicating he was the man wanted by law enforcement. Brown was spotted putting an item on one of the football sleds. He continued walking toward the bleachers with a white Styrofoam cup in his hand.
Brown charged at an officer and the officer was forced to taser him. Brown fell to the ground and was handcuffed. The officer discovered that a Beretta Pico .380-caliber semi-automatic had been concealed in the Styrofoam cup. It had been reported stolen in Orange County.
Brown has 15 previous felony convictions. He was also in possession of MDMA and ammunition.
He was arrested on multiple charges and booked at the Lake County Jail on $35,000 bond.
