Janet S. Hazzard, RN, 89, Leesburg, FL passed away on October 29, 2021 at Edgewater Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Mount Dora, Florida under the care of her loving family. Janet was born on July 2, 1932 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to her parents Lewis Earl Stevens and Laura Jane (Williams) Stevens.
She was a Registered Nurse who retired from the practice of A.D. Bonifant, M.D. in Olney, Maryland. Janet attended Central High School in Scranton, Pennsylvania and attended Columbia University and Graduated in 1953 from Moses Taylor Hospital School. She passed the Pennsylvania State Board for Nursing in 1954. Janet and her beloved husband Dewitt moved to Leesburg in 1998 from Silver Spring, Maryland. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Leesburg, Florida and a former member of St. Marks Episcopal Church in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Janet is survived by her loving children: Laurie Leonard and husband Mike of Adamstown, MD, David D. Hazzard and his wife Donna of Willington, NC, James R. Hazzard of Loami, IL, Mark S. Hazzard and his wife Melania of Sedgewick, ME and Paul A. Hazzard and his wife Heidi of Clermont, FL; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Dewitt G. Hazzard.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Maryland.
