A Leesburg man was arrested after allegedly stealing a woman’s phone at a gaming arcade.
The incident occurred Sept. 21 at Win Zone at 2650 Ace Ave. in Leesburg.
Dara Ostane, 39, caused a disturbance when staff told him his attire did not comply with the dress code. He became enraged and got too close to one of the gaming tables, according to an affidavit of probable cause from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Win Zone employees told Ostane to leave, but he refused.
While one employee called law enforcement, another female employee went outside to take a picture of the license plate of Ostane’s car. Ostane ran up to the woman, picked her up and threw her to the ground, the affidavit said. He took her cell phone and fled in his car. A witness was able to get the license plate number which enabled Lake County sheriff’s detectives to obtain an arrest warrant.
Ostane was taken into custody Friday on charges of robbery and criminal mischief.
Ostane was released last year from a Florida minimum security prison after serving a 22-month sentence on a manslaughter charge. He is also on drug offender probation through 2024.
He was booked without bond at the Lake County Jail.
