A sex offender was booked into the Lake County jail after failing to update his address with authorities.

Brandon Wessling, 41, was arrested at 9:25  a.m. Monday at his girlfriend’s apartment on South Lone Oak Drive in Leesburg.

Wessling, who was convicted for child molestation in Herndando County in 2007, had failed to alert authorities after being kicked out of a Rodeway Inn in Clermont on July 18, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Wessling had been using the hotel as his listed address since July 16, when police instructed him to update his address after his girlfriend’s landlord reported he was staying with her. At the time, Wessling was listed as living at another address in Lake County. State law requires registered sex offenders to alert the state’s sex offender registry and update their driver’s license within 48 hours after moving.

Wessling is being held on $200,000 bond. His court date is set for Aug. 23.
