Leesburg Electric Department warning customers of crime-committing imposters

The City of Leesburg Electric Department is warning customers to be on the lookout for imposters attempting to access their property and commit crimes.

Officials say employees will always drive properly marked city vehicles and will have appropriate identification to verify who they are. In addition, the smart grid generally prevents the need for a worker to come out and check meters, who customers are encouraged to be mindful of these imposters and call the Leesburg Police Department if they suspect someone is impersonating an Electric Department employee.

Anyone with questions can contact the Electric Department at (352) 728-9786.
