One person airlifted and another seriously injured in fiery crash near Plantation of Leesburg

Two people were seriously injured in a fiery crash Friday night near The Plantation of Leesburg.

Crews from Leesburg Fire Rescue, Lake County Fire Rescue and Lake EMS responded to a fiery crash Friday night near The Plantation of Leesburg that left two people seriously injured.

Firefighters responded to the crash in the area of County Road 33 and when they arrived, they found one vehicle on fire and another with heavy damage. Crews quickly extinguished the blaze and identified three possible patients, a Leesburg Fire Rescue report states.

One patient was deemed a trauma alert and was airlifted to an area hospital. A second patient was transported to a local hospital and the third person left the crash scene before an assessment or treatment could be completed, the report says, adding that an engine from Lake County Fire Rescue and ambulances from Lake EMS also responded to the incident.
