Hundreds of locals filled the Leesburg Community Building for the second annual Taste of Lake place on Tuesday.
The event featured live music and food samplings from more than a dozen local restaurants and businesses.
Each restaurant had the opportunity to participate in multiple categories: Best Appetizer, Best Entree, Best Dessert and Best Drink. All of the booths were judged for their appearance and one was awarded the people’s choice.
Winners were announced at the end of the night, with the first award going to Eaton’s Beach for Best Appetizer.
The best decorated booth award went to Mojo Grill & Catering, who looks to open their newest restaurant in Leesburg in the coming week. Mojo Grill & Catering currently operates three other locations in Belleview and Ocala.
Gourmet Today, which offers catering services in Leesburg and surrounding communities, won both the Best Entree and People’s Choice awards on the evening.
The Best Beverage award went to San Jose’s Original Mexican Restaurant for its classic margaritas. San Jose’s, which is located in the Southside Shopping Center, served up traditional favorites, including taco shells and ceviche alongside their award-winning drink.
The Best Dessert award went to Bre’s Berries after they provided a collection of different desserts, including vanilla and chocolate cakes, in addition to their famous chocolate-covered strawberries.
