St. James Episcopal Church in Leesburg becomes certified Dementia Friendly

St. James Episcopal Church in Leesburg

By training more than 40 of its congregation in Alzheimer’s awareness, dementia communication and care-giving techniques, St. James Episcopal Church, located at 204 Lee St. in Leesburg, has become certified Dementia Friendly.

The training, provided by Coping with Dementia LLC, took place Sept. 15 and included two hours of instruction, role play, and discussion about how to recognize symptoms of dementia, how to better communicate with individuals living with dementia, and how to support families and friends who serve as caregivers.
