Leesburg Commission sets qualifying period for candidates in upcoming election

Three seats on the Leesburg City Commission are up for grabs in the upcoming Nov. 6 election.

The qualifying period for those wishing to serve on the commission begins at noon July 30 and ends at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3. Applications to run for the open seats can be picked up and returned to the city clerk’s office in City Hall, 501 W. Meadow Street.

The seats that will be open currently are held by John Christian (Seat Two, District Two); Bob Bone (Seat Four, At-Large) and Mayor Dan Robuck III (Seat Five, At-Large). Commissioners who win their respective races will take office Jan. 7, 2019 and serve four-year terms.

The November election will be held in conjunction with county, state and federal elections and all precincts will be open.
