43-year-old woman struck and killed on U.S. Hwy. 441 in Leesburg

A 43-year-old woman was struck and killed while crossing U.S. Hwy. 441 near the Lake Square Mall in Leesburg.

Lisa Grantham of Tavares was pronounced dead at the scene at about 10 p.m. Sunday.

An investigation shut down the northbound lanes of U.S. Hwy. 441 for nearly four hours.

Grantham walked into the path of a 2004 Toyota Highlander, driven by Emmanuel Claudio-Vargas, 36, of Leesburg, according to the Leesburg Police Department.

The crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information should contact the Leesburg Police Department Traffic Unit at (352) 787-2121.
