Boy on bicycle trail beaten and robbed by four teenagers

A boy on a bicycle trail was beaten and robbed of his iPhone by four teens in Lake County.

The alleged attackers – including a 15-year-old, two 16-year-olds and a 19-year-old – stole an iPhone as well as Airpods from the boy who had been riding his bicycle on Tuesday on the bicycle trail near the Marsh Hammock subdivision in Groveland, according to an arrest report from the Groveland Police Department.

During an interview with police, the boy, who was accompanied by his mother, said one of the teens called out to him while others came out of the woods and attacked him. The boy said he did not know his attackers, whom he was able identify during a “showup,” orchestrated by police.

When the four teens were taken into custody, they were in possession of two BB guns and marijuana. One of the BB guns resembled a Glock handgun, the report noted. The BB guns had been used to threaten the boy.

One of the teens, 19-year-old Devon Allen Brooks of Leesburg, is facing charges of robbery with a deadly weapon, grand theft and possession of marijuana. He is being charged as an adult. He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $3,500 bond.
