Myrna Faye (Hoke) Van Doren passed away March 7, 2024.

Myrna was born August 14, 1947 south of West Milton, Ohio to Howard and Martha (Smith) Hoke. Myrna graduated from Parkview-Methodist School of Nursing in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and received a Bachelors Degree from Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. She started her nursing career at Fulton County Medical Center in Wauseon, Ohio. That is where she met Robert Van Doren and they married June 7, 1975 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

After surviving a tornado, Myrna and Bob moved to Memphis, Tennessee. In 1980 they returned to Northwest Ohio where she continued her nursing career at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, Ohio. She worked at St. Luke’s until they moved to their current location in Leesburg, Florida. She then worked at Waterman Hospital for a time, and then at Total Eye Care Surgery Center for 18 years. During her 50 years of nursing she was a registered nurse with a bachelors degree and as a head nurse.

Myrna was raised in Fairview Brothers Church in Englewood, Ohio and while living in Northwest Ohio she was a member of Brailey Union Church and Shiloh Church. She also was a past member of Berean Baptist Church in Leesburg, Florida. She was currently attending Countryside Baptist Church in Fruitland Park, Florida. Myrna’s hobbies were gardening and cooking, and she excelled at both.

Myrna is survived by her husband Robert Van Doren, brother Noel Hoke of Indiana, and nieces Kaylin, Kelly, Karla, Pam and Cheryl. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Esther Byers, and her brother Eldon Hoke. Donations can be made in her name to St Jude Research.
