A Citrus Springs man’s erratic driving led to his DUI arrest in Leesburg on Monday night.

At around 8:46 p.m., a Lake County sheriff’s deputy observed a white Lincoln passenger car failing to maintain its lane, following too close to other vehicles, and carelessly cutting other vehicles off the road near U.S. Highway 27 and Middlesex Road, according to the sheriff’s office arrest report.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, identified as 26-year-old Darius Cordell Dixon, the report said. Dixon admitted to drinking about one pint of alcohol.

After Dixon performed poorly in a series of field sobriety exercises, the deputy concluded he had been driving under the influence. Breath tests conducted later confirmed this with readings of 0.266 and 0.261, according to the report.

Dixon, who was also arrested last year for attacking the mother of his four children, was charged with DUI and taken to the Lake County Jail, where bond was set at $5,000.
