G. Wallace Meyer 89 of Leesburg, FL passed away on May 10, 2023

Wally was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin in 1933 to Arda (Knickerbocker) and G. Willard Meyer. Wally served in the Army during the Korean War and then attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where he met and married Maret (Marty). Together they had 3 children, Christine, Susan and Carolyn. Wally and Marty were married 65 years.

After his graduation, Wally worked for two national companies, Cargill Inc for 21 years and Valspar Corp for 12 years. They then joined Wycliffe Bible Translators and were missionaries for 16 years.

Wally loved the Lord and was passionate about telling people about Jesus. He enjoyed leadership roles, golfing, negotiating, the Wisconsin Badgers and sporting his bright red tennis shoes. Wally had a sharp wit, a generous heart, and colorful wardrobe. He took what he learned in fortune 500 businesses and used it for the Lord in helping to build up churches and non-profits.

After retiring from Wycliffe in Orlando, FL, Wally served at Calvary Assembly as an Executive Pastor of the church for four years. Later Wally and Marty moved to Leesburg Fl and fell in love with a new pastor ready to start a new church. Wally was a founding elder of the Church of the Lakes. He helped with the church’s vision, launch, business development, prayer team and youth center. The end of his life was filled with deep and rich friendships with people he loved, and who loved him, and who shared his love for Christ.

Wally is survived by his wife, his 3 daughters, 2 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, and a brother and sister. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother and many friends and relatives.
